Game Tester Cover Letter
A Game Tester’s main role is to methodically evaluate and test video games to ensure that the best final version is launched. Included in this role is playing the game to completion numerous times so that bugs and glitches can be identified and resolved. Any unresolved issues or malfunctions within the games would not only damage the name of the production company responsible for publishing it, but also make the game unplayable. Once the Game Tester has identified an issue, they have to clearly and accurately report the problem and describe in detail how the bug can be found and sometimes are required to offer suggestions for improvement. Game Testers should be highly skilled and versatile at playing different types and genres of games.

Dear Mr. Gates,
I want to start by extending my deepest thanks for the opportunity to introduce myself and to submit my resume for the position of video game tester with your fine establishment. I have extensive experience in the world of video games as I have been playing some type of video game since I was six years old. While this may be something that you hear from everyone, my background goes much farther than this.
I currently have a bachelors degree in computer science and I am working on my masters in video game design. Through playing numerous types of games I have learned about different characters, plots, and strategies that are used in these games. I have taken the time to play and finish every type of game that is currently available on the market. From role-playing games to rock band, I have extensive knowledge of video games in general.
I have been testing video games for several smaller companies for the past few years while completing my education. I feel that working for these companies has given me the expertise to begin work as a video game tester on a much larger scale. I am able to spot flaws in games and effectively communicate them with the video game developers. My degree in computer science helps foster an understanding of how the video game is produced and makes communication with designers much simpler.
Along with my, I am sending two letters of recommendation from my former supervisors. I am also including a portfolio of games that I have tested that are currently available on the market. I was able to play these games extensively and help work out all of the bugs before the games were released.
I feel that I am a very qualified for a position as a video game tester with your company. I have put in valuable time learning about the industry and testing games for smaller companies. This knowledge of how video game testing is done is invaluable.
I know that I would be a great asset to your current team of video game testers. I look forward to meeting with you personally to discuss employment options. I want to thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule in order to review my resume and portfolio. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me at the information as given above.
